In other words, if you don’t look specifically at the calendar, the weather in September in Santorini feels more like the beginning of a hot summer, except that the sea is noticeably warmer in September!

In the first half of September on the island the temperature rises to +30 … +32 degrees during the day and drops only a little – to +27 … +29 degrees – only at the end of the month.

What we like about September in Santorini is the almost total absence of heat… No, not even that: the HEAT! The water temperature in the sea has risen noticeably during the previous hot month, which is positive. However, the heated air can become tiring. Fortunately, the weather in Santorini during September brings relief. The temperatures are rarely too high, making it easy to breathe.
September is similar to the previous month, and it can be easy to lose track of time without a calendar. However, we can count on almost guaranteed +28 degrees in the first half of September, which in the second half of the month gradually turns into +26 degrees in the shade during the day. It is important not only to stick to the calendar, but also to recognize the uniqueness of the sea climate. The main thing is that according to the calendar it is already autumn, and our sea is still perfectly preserving its summer temperature!
In September you can swim at any beach in Santorini: at the beginning of the month you will definitely be able to swim in the sea with a temperature of at least +25 degrees. Believe us, this is a very comfortable temperature for both bathing and snorkeling. After all the air is still very warm, the sun is bright and the black sand is still very hot to walk on! 🙂

September may not be the brightest month of the year, but it will definitely enjoy plenty of sunshine. With 12 hours of sunshine every day, it’s more than enough!
To avoid sunburn or heat stroke, bring sunglasses and sunscreen with at least SPF 30, even if you are accustomed to the sun or have already tanned over the summer. The sun in Santorini is particularly strong during the first half of September.

September in Santorini marks the beginning of the Velvet season, particularly in the latter half of the month. During this time, the scorching sun and heat gradually give way to a softer light and warmer atmosphere, making it an ideal time for bathing in the sea. The Velvet season is a wonderful period that lasts for the next month and a half.
Swimwear, hats, sunglasses are a must! Warm clothes… Except for something like a sweatshirt or hoodie, and only for the evening at the end of the month. But during the daytime, it will be an exceptional summer format!
