Excursion details

Bathe in the thermal springs, swim at the Red and White beaches, sail around the volcanic caldera, dine on board a catamaran and watch the sunset at sea – is that a good enough plan for one evening? That’s the kind of programme you can expect on this sea excursion aboard Santorini’s largest catamaran, the Ocean Voyager.

On this cruise you will see the famous Santorini sunset at sea, the main sights of the caldera and some of the beaches:

  • Thirasia island (also known as Thirassia or Therasia);
  • Hot springs of Palea kameni and Nea Kameni volcano;
  • Aspronisi island;
  • Indian face Rock;
  • Ancient lighthouse;
  • Akrotiri peninsula;
  • Red beach;
  • White beach;
  • Sunset at the sea.

The catamaran tour starts in the afternoon at the port of Ammoudi (Amoudi) near the village of Oia. The captain will take a course to the south: on one side there will be a beautiful view of the steep cliffs of the caldera, on the other side – the island of Thirasia, Palea Kameni and Nea Kameni.

The first stop on this excursion is planned in the area of the island of Palea Kameni. It is here where the thermal springs are, and the water in the sea changes color from red and orange to dark green because of the elements like sulfur and iron dissolved in it. Are you ready to swim in hot springs? Then bring dark swimsuits 😉

After the hot springs of Palea Kameni, the catamaran will sail southeast past the island of Aspronisi to the Akrotiri peninsula. This place is known for its unusual rocks, one of which resembles the silhouette of an Indian, and an old lighthouse. The main destinations are the Red and White beaches, near which the catamaran will stop. Here will be another opportunity to swim in the sea and if desired, even to swim to the shore and go to the beach. By the way, you can get to the White Beach only from the sea!

Evening is approaching and that means time for dinner and sunset! While you swim in the sea, the team will cook for you hot meat dishes and traditional Greek salads and appetizers, which will be accompanied by local white wine.

The final point of this excursion is the water area near the village of Oia. This location is considered to be one of the best places in Santorini to watch the sun go down, so the catamaran is heading out of the caldera – and let’s hope for good weather! Approximate sunset time in Santorini this week is 20:14. After sunset, the catamaran returns to the port of Ammoudi.

In case there are less than 24 hours left before the trip, please book only after agreeing with the manager on availability.

Before going to sea, it is necessary to issue some special documents (forms with information regarding route, crew and all passengers). To do this, we need the full name (as in the passport), gender, age and citizenship of all participants. It depends on the location of your hotel or villa. Some cities of Santorini are famous for their narrow streets, which are not so easy to walk even on foot. So in some cases you will need to walk to the main road, some nearest square or parking place, where a car or a tour bus can pick you up. If your hotel has good road access, then the transfer will be able to pick you up directly from the hotel.

After placing an order, you will receive detailed information about the place and time of the meeting, as well as all the necessary documents. Please read them carefully beforehand.

Santorini has a lot of sun and almost no shade during the summer. You will definitely need some sun protection: sunscreen, glasses, hat and so on. If there is a possibility of motion sickness in transport, then we recommend taking the appropriate pills. Take your swimwear and towels (if you plan to swim). You are required to have the original or copy/photo of your passport or ID card with you.

No. You will be on a catamaran the whole time.

There are no limitations. It is desirable to be able to swim 🙂

The tour starts at 14:30, so you will have time to eat at the hotel.

Dinner is planned on the catamaran and is included in the price of the trip.

For lunch, the team will cook a barbecue and the menu will include Greek salad, chicken fillet, pork chops, roasted vegetables, dolma (stuffed cabbage rolls made of grape leaves), vegetarian dishes. Drinks will include water, unlimited soft drinks and white Santorinian wine.

Yes, english-speaking staff will tell you about the places you will be visiting along the way.
