There are many different catamarans to choose from in Santorini’s ports, from small, but still comfortable enough for a few people, thirty-eight-foot catamarans to huge eighty-foot sailboats that can accommodate fifty to sixty guests.
If you want to spend a day at sea on a catamaran, you should take a look at the models from Lagoon 380 to Lagoon 560. The entire line is a very comfortable catamaran designed for family or friends. Comfort, beauty and aesthetics come first, and they are great for individual rentals for small itineraries like a day trip, dinner and sunset rendezvous.
The larger models, which will be discussed later, are designed for multi-day cruises to the Greek islands or for excursions or corporate parties.

Our island often has very strong winds, so the sea surface often swells, even in the caldera. For this reason we do not have small catamarans on the island and the smallest model is 38 feet. That’s where we start.
Lagoon 380 Sailing Catamaran
The most compact catamaran in Santorini is the Lagoon 380. It is 38 feet (11.5 meters) long and 21 feet (6.5 meters) wide, but has a fairly large exterior space despite not having the largest overall dimensions.
The engine rooms are well insulated and located away from the living areas for maximum comfort – if the captain decides to use the engines instead of the sails during a catamaran trip in Santorini, they will be virtually inaudible.
The cockpit of the catamaran, the outdoor seating area, is quite spacious for its size, allowing you to relax and sunbathe. The catamaran hull has large windows and natural light floods into the saloon and cabins, creating a lively atmosphere.
The catamaran offers a full barbecue and salad as well as beer, wine and soft drinks. This catamaran cruise is perfect for exploring Santorini with your family or a small group of friends.

Lagoon 400 Sailing Catamaran
Next in size is the Lagoon 400 from the same shipyard. It is a slightly longer catamaran that was built in 2015.
It has “grown” two feet compared to the previous model, but the main difference is that the increase in length has had an effect on the width: the entire hull has become one meter wider. Both in the saloon and on deck, this increase is very noticeable!
The large vertical windows in the salon provide a nearly 360-degree view, creating a sense of spaciousness.
Due to its larger size, this catamaran can accommodate more passengers: 14 people can already swim around Santorini on the catamaran!
On board there is a full kitchen with gas stove and refrigerators, lounge area, showers and other amenities. The Lagoon 400 catamaran is perfect for a private cruise around Santorini with a large family or a group of friends. It can also be considered for birthdays and other celebrations.

Lagoon 450 Sailing Catamaran
The Lagoon 450 powersail catamaran is even larger. The changes in overall dimensions are immediately noticeable.
As you can easily guess, this catamaran is five feet (one and a half meters) longer than its predecessor, and its hull is even wider.
The increase in size is noticeable both at the bow (the sunbathing nets are larger) and in the cabin and aft living areas, where there is room for larger sofas and tables.
The catamaran was built in 2018 and is one of our most popular models on the island.

Lagoon 500 Sailing Catamaran
Very interesting and in a way already a borderline in terms of size: after the 50-foot mark (15 meters in length), catamarans get really big and sometimes give the impression of being a “hotel on the sea”.
All the main differences come from a single desire to make the catamaran as comfortable as possible for relaxing at sea.
This means even more spacious cabins, salons and lounges, more sofas and tables, and a full galley, which is located in a separate area on this catamaran.
Similarly, the “extra” feet also benefit the exterior spaces: The nets on the bow and the seating areas at the stern of the catamaran have “grown”:

Lagoon 560 Sailing Catamaran
This is definitely the catamaran that fits the definition of a “hotel at sea”. Built in 2018, the 560 is 56 feet long – that’s over 17 meters!
This is a very spacious and comfortable model for relaxation on the water, and the only such model in Santorini 🙂
The catamaran has several full decks: in addition to the cabins, salon and main area, there is a flybridge, designed as a real large salon with sofas on the upper deck, to which a separate staircase leads.
The control station provides excellent visibility for the captain, who is separated from the guest seating area.
Large nets in the bow of the catamaran are complemented by sofas and tables. Sunbathing on this catamaran is a pleasure! If the sun is too strong, the aft settee provides shade and the salon can be completely enclosed.
This catamaran was built in 2018 and today it may not be the biggest, but it is definitely the most luxurious catamaran in Santorini.
In terms of size and space, the Lagoon 560 accommodates 20 people and is ideal for large events or… a very comfortable vacation at sea in a small company 🙂

Lagoon 620 Sailing Catamaran
The Lagoon 620 is the largest and most comfortable catamaran in Santorini, if we don’t talk about larger “passenger” excursion catamarans.
At just under 19 meters in length, with huge main deck and saloon areas, multiple levels and a spacious flybridge, she is a home or, if you prefer, a hotel at sea.
This catamaran is not used for daily group cruises, as its design and functionality is created more for comfortable recreation of families or small groups.
In addition to spacious, airy lounges and seating areas, there is a full galley and several large cabins with showers.
With such large dimensions, the catamaran assumes the maximum comfortable accommodation of only 10 passengers on board, and is most often rented for multi-day sea voyages like charters to the Greek islands (although technically it can take up to 20 guests on board for day trips).
For example, you can sail from Santorini to Milos, Folegandros, Mykonos, Paros, Antiparos or just rent it for a few days of pure sailing, because even the local wine takes on a different flavour at night.
Fountaine Pajot 80 Sailing Catamaran
If we are not talking about group trips, where this catamaran is most often used, then there is only one word left in the reasons for renting it: corporate event 🙂 Or something grandiose – just look at its dimensions:
This is a really big catamaran for really big parties and events: it is 80 feet long, which is 24 meters! This catamaran is not about snow-white decks, teak planks, sofas and bedrooms like all the previous options. It’s a catamaran for a big, big group of people at sea, with a capacity of up to 65 people!
Built in 2015, if you are planning a really big party, the Fountaine Pajot 80 is ideal. This catamaran must be booked well in advance, sometimes several months before the desired date.

Terms and conditions for catamaran rental in Santorini in 2024
The cost of renting a catamaran in Santorini depends on your requirements (chosen catamaran, itinerary and its duration, special remarks on the crew, menu on board, etc.). The prices quoted are the minimum cost of renting a catamaran during the year.
In the event of bad weather on the chosen day, the trip will be rescheduled for the next day with more suitable weather conditions. If you are unable to make the trip due to weather conditions, your deposit will be fully refunded.
What is included in the cost of renting a catamaran
Semi-private catamaran trips around the caldera of Santorini in 2024
In addition to individual catamaran rentals, sailing excursions can also be arranged in a semi-private format. During the 2024 year, group sailing catamaran excursions are conducted on several routes in the morning and afternoon. Group size usually ranges from 8 to 14 people, except for the largest catamarans, which can accommodate up to 65 people.
The main language of communication on board is English. In case of full private catamaran rental we can offer you additional services of guide and photographer.
Depending on the route, sailing catamarans can depart from the south of the island from the port of Vlychada (Vlihada) and head northwest along the caldera of the volcano – or vice versa, depart from the northern port of Ammoudi (Amudi) and head south to Vlychada. Itineraries can be circular, with the catamaran returning to the same port from which it departed, or linear – from one port on the island along the volcanic caldera to another port.
On board you will be served refreshments and a light snack with fruit. The transfer from the hotel to the port and back is also included in the price of the cruise, which lasts about 5 hours on average. See details in the appropriate section.
