The Cyclades are an amazing archipelago of scattered beautiful islands! Of course, we will say that Santorini is the best of them, because we spend a lot of time here 😉 However, during your holiday on our island, you can arrange to fly by plane or helicopter from Santorini to Mykonos or Koufonissi, or even in the opposite direction – south – and visit the largest Greek island, Crete!
In short, in addition to sightseeing flights over the islands, we can also offer interesting helicopter tours around the Greek islands and air taxi services if you need the fastest and most comfortable transfer between the islands.
Now for the details:

A helicopter flight from Santorini to Crete
Perhaps Santorini is the most romantic island in Greece, but Crete is the biggest, the most legendary and in some ways still the most mysterious. If you’re already on holiday in Santorini, how can you not visit the best? Best of all, Santorini and Crete can be reached by helicopter in just 40 minutes!
By the way, unlike a plane, a helicopter flight does not require any special registration, airport, customs and other time-consuming complications and formalities. You arrive at the helipad, take your seats in a helicopter, and in just over half an hour you’re off to see the sights of Crete!
You can create your own itinerary around the island or book a private tour of Crete in advance with one of our personal guides. In this case we will meet you on arrival and you can start exploring the island immediately!
The price of a helicopter flight from Santorini to Crete in 2024
Although Crete is an island, its size makes it feel like you are on the mainland. It is the largest island in Greece and there are many sights, beaches and simply beautiful and interesting places. However, getting to them is not always easy, due to the size of the island and the distances involved. However, a helicopter solves many problems at once 🙂
If we talk about helicopter rental as a transportation service solely, the price of a helicopter transfer from Santorini to Crete in 2024 will start from 2500 euros. This is the cost of flying between the islands in the most compact helicopter, the Robinson R44, which can carry up to three passengers but has virtually no luggage space. The larger, six-seater Eurocopter AS 355N costs more – the flight starts at 3300 euros.
In addition to the usual air taxi between the Greek islands, we can also organise an aerial sightseeing tour and excursion over this amazing island if a flight is not enough for you and you want to see the island from the air.
The most interesting flight routes over Crete include the area around the luxury resort of Elounda and the island of Spinalonga in the north-east, the south-east of Crete and the uninhabited island of Chrissi with its white sandy beaches, where you can land and spend several hours sunbathing and swimming.
You can also take a helicopter to southwest Crete and fly over the Samaria Gorge, or to the Balos lagoon area to the confluence of the three seas or the pink beach of Elafonisi.
We organise these flights exclusively on a private basis: apart from your pilot on board, there will only be you and, if required, a guide or photographer.
You can adjust each route as you wish – just tell us by calling our office +30 (697) 448-448-3 (WhatsApp is also available), through the special form below or to manager@santorinika.com, if you prefer to communicate by e-mail.
A helicopter flight from Santorini to Mykonos
Mykonos is a distant neighbour of Santorini in the Cyclades archipelago. The island lies in the central Aegean Sea. If you look at a map, you’ll find it just north of Santorini. Mykonos is about a hundred kilometres to the north.
Mykonos is also one of the most famous islands in Greece, attracting hundreds of thousands of travellers from literally all over the world every year! Mykonos is called “the island of windmills” – you can see it in many photographs.
The island itself is quite small, but it has a picturesque snow-white town and lots of beautiful long sandy beaches with crystal clear water. The island is known for its exciting nightlife, and if you fly here for the bars and music, you will definitely have to stay for at least a few nights 🙂
The price of a helicopter flight from Santorini to Mykonos in 2024
If we talk only about air taxi, then the transfer from Santorini to Mykonos by helicopter will cost from 2750 euros for a compact helicopter Robinson R44, and from 3400 euros if you choose a larger and more comfortable helicopter Eurocopter AS 355N to fly between these islands.
The helicopter flight between Santorini and Mykonos takes about 40 minutes each way and after landing on the island you have about 6 hours free time.
We can also arrange an additional excursion for you, providing a guide and photographer, both on Mykonos and during the flight from Santorini.
We only organise private flights: there will be no one else on board except you and the pilot. This allows you to plan the whole trip exactly the way you want it.

A helicopter flight from Santorini to Koufonisi in 2024
Koufonissia is part of the Minor Cyclades islands group and is a group of two small islands: Pano (“Upper”) and Kato (“Lower”) Koufonissia. Both of these islands are famous for their nice golden sandy beaches, the emerald waters of the Aegean Sea, the quiet, calm and peaceful atmosphere.
The first island is the most interesting and the most populated of the Cyclades: 399 people live on 3.5 square kilometres! The largest village, Koufonisi, is a fishing village and almost all the families here are involved in some way with fishing. Geographically, these islands are south-east of Santorini and are separated by a strait only 200 metres wide. What is the best thing about Pano Koufonissi?
Beaches. Beaches and beaches. If you want to walk on wide sandy beaches after the black and sometimes even rough volcanic beaches of Santorini, then this is the place for you! Do you miss the turquoise waters of the sea? You are here! Do you want to have lunch in a village fish tavern right by the sea? You are here too!
The price of a helicopter flight from Santorini to Koufonisi in 2024
The islands are very close – a helicopter flight from Santorini to Koufonissi takes only 25 minutes! The cost of flight from island to island – if you need only transfer, aerotaxi – starts from 1400 euros for a small Robinson R44 helicopter and from 1800 euros for a large Eurocopter AS 355N.

More details about helicopter tours of the Greek islands
Flights between the islands can be made by a small 4-seat Robinson R44 helicopter (1 pilot + 3 passengers + minimum baggage space) or by a much larger and more comfortable 6-seat Bell 206 or Airbus AS 355N helicopter (1 pilot + 5 passengers + plenty of baggage space).
Robinson R44 helicopter: the details of the aircraft
A compact helicopter for a few people and short flights: one passenger can sit next to the pilot and two more can sit in the second row behind.
- Crew: 1 pilot;
- Passenger capacity: 3 passengers;
- Length: 12 meters;
- Height: 3 meters;
- Diameter of main rotor: 10 meters;
- Maximum speed: 240 km/h;
- Practical flight range: 650 km.
Airbus AS 355N helicopter: the details of the aircraft
Large spacious helicopter for a family or a large group and long flights: there is one passenger seat next to the pilot, and four separate seats behind them in the second row.
- Crew: 1 or 2 pilots;
- Passenger capacity: 4 or 5 passengers;
- Length: 13 meters;
- Height: 3 meters;

Most often for helicopter flights between Greek islands we recommend to choose the second model, the Airbus AS 355N (or the Bell 206, which is also a large helicopter). The larger fuselage and propellers, as well as the twin engines, allow this helicopter to cope better with possible winds, both over the islands and on the open sea. It is also simply a more comfortable and spacious helicopter, with plenty of room for passengers and luggage.
Helicopter flights between Greek islands: permitted and recommended flight hours
We usually schedule the departure from Santorini at 8:30 – 9:00 am: not too early so you have time to sleep, and not too late to enjoy the flight and have time to see everything.
The return time can be adjusted, but you should return in the evening of the same day, and strictly before sunset, as helicopter flights to Santorini are prohibited at night. Please note that if the return before sunset is not possible, you need to book a return flight for another day.
