Bus from Fira to Perissa: route timetable and important details

If you visit our island and stay in one of the beach hotels in Perissa or just want to visit its wonderful volcanic beach, the regular bus to Perissa offers a suitable route with twenty-two round-trip stops! The bus route from Fira to Perissa is quite popular and can almost be considered a bus tour… just without a guide 🙂

The distance between Fira and Perissa is approximately 11 kilometers, and if there are no traffic jams near Fira or on the road leading to Oia, it takes only 15 minutes to get to Perissa. However, if you meet a tourist buses in the morning or closer to the evening on this road during high season, it can take up to 40-45 minutes to reach this section.

The bus service to Santorini is operated by KTEL, which means very low ticket prices.

The bus stop in Perissa is located at the northern edge of the village, right on the shore of the black volcanic beach. It is indicated on the map above.

Buses to Perissa run every 20-30-40 minutes, or once an hour (it depends on the season and time of the day!). As the evening approaches, the bus service is reduced to one trip per hour.

The last bus from Fira to Perissa leaves at 24:00. There are no night buses on this route!

It takes approximately 10 minutes to get from Fira to Perissa by bus. Please note that the travel time can increase significantly during the high season, when traffic jams are not uncommon on the roads of our island.

KTEL Santorini sometimes makes changes to the bus timetable – and in some cases several times during the week. Always check the bus schedule before you travel, or better yet, take the early buses that are more likely to get you to your destination on time

The return bus from Perissa departs from the station and travels to Fira’s main bus station. The frequency of buses changes from every 20-30 minutes to every 40-50 minutes or so. In the evening, buses run once an hour.

Bus ticket prices and how to buy tickets from Fira to Perissa in 2025

The bus fare from Fira to Perissa in 2025 is 2.5 euro. This is one of the most expensive bus routes. You can buy a ticket directly on the bus from the driver or conductor.

Children up to and including six years of age ride for free on the bus from Fira to Perissa. The price of a bus ticket for children aged seven to twelve years inclusive is half the full price of a ticket on that route. No extra charge or special luggage tickets are required.

Five important things about the bus timetable from Fira to Perissa

We want to share five basic facts you should know about bus routes between Fira and Perissa village and on our island in general:

1. The central bus stop in Santorini is located in Fira, the heart of the island and its capital. It is the main bus station.
2. All buses in Santorini take their routes from there and return there as well.
3. You can get from almost any other part of the island and back on regular buses, but you almost always have to go through the central bus station and make a connection there.
4. Bus timetables are different at weekends and also during the winter season (especially!). The gaps between buses can be an hour and a half or two hours instead of half an hour, and sometimes more. In general, the bus schedule on the island is quite… unstable and conditional. Sometimes it can change twice a week. Sad, but true.
5. You can buy bus tickets in the bus for cash (euros). It is better to prepare in advance coins or small banknotes of 5 or 10 euros.
