The village of Kamari, located in the eastern part of our island, offers a wide range of restaurants, taverns, and entertainment options. Additionally, it boasts a well-organized beach that is renowned beyond the island of Santorini.

The distance between Fira and Kamari is approximately nine kilometers, and the bus covers it in 20 minutes, if, of course, the roads are free. If, however, there is tourist bus traffic on the section leaving Fira, this route can take half an hour or more – it is difficult to predict this in advance.

The bus service to Santorini is operated by KTEL, which means pretty low prices – even on our extremely expensive island! πŸ™‚

Bus route from Fira to Kamari

The bus from Fira to Kamari passes the airport (a short distance away), Messaria, Exo Gonia and Episkopi. In addition to the popular black volcanic beach, Kamari village has many hotels and apartments and many tourists stay here. As a result, the eastern bus route is quite frequent and often crowded. The village is quite large, so there are several bus stops in Kamari. The final bus stop in Kamari is in the northern part of the village near the coast. The bus reaches almost all the way to the beach. This is the place marked on the map above.

Three more bus stops in Kamari are located in the center of the village on the main street that runs up to the town from the sea. The first stop is approximately one hundred metres from the coast, with the following stops spaced at intervals of 100-150 metres.

From Fira to Kamari, buses start running quite early, and as early as 7:30 in the morning you can travel to the east coast of the island. During the day, buses run at intervals of 30 to 90 minutes: more frequent during the day and less frequent in the evening.

It takes approximately 20 minutes by bus from Fira to Kamari. Please be aware that during the high season, traffic jams are common on the roads of our island, which may significantly increase travel time.

The last bus from Fira to Kamari leaves at 22:15, and it’s best not to be late for it: there are no night buses to Kamari.

The return bus from Kamari goes to the main bus station of Fira. The first bus to the capital leaves at 7:10 in the morning:

The bus ride from Kamari to Fira usually takes about 20 minutes as well.

There are also no buses at night from Kamari: the bus service between the cities ends at 22:30.

Bus ticket prices and how to buy tickets from Fira to Kamari in 2024

The bus fare from Fira to Kamari in 2024 is 1.60 euro. You can buy a ticket from the driver already on the bus.

No extra charge or special luggage tickets are required. Children up to and including six years of age can ride the bus from Fira to Kamari for free. The price of a bus ticket for children aged seven to twelve years inclusive will be half the full price of a bus ticket on that route.

Five important things about the bus timetable from Fira to Kamari

We want to share five basic facts you should know about bus routes between Fira and Kamari village and on our island in general:

  1. The central bus stop in Santorini is located in Fira, the heart of the island and its capital. It is the main bus station.
  2. All buses in Santorini take their routes from there and return there as well.
  3. You can get from almost any other part of the island and back on regular buses, but you almost always have to go through the central bus station and make a connection there.
  4. Bus timetables are different at weekends and also during the winter season (especially!). The gaps between buses can be an hour and a half or two hours instead of half an hour, and sometimes more. In general, the bus schedule on the island is quite… unstable and conditional. Sometimes it can change twice a week. Sad, but true.
  5. You can buy bus tickets in the bus for cash (euros). It is better to prepare in advance coins or small banknotes of 5 or 10 euros.
