The small village of Baxedes is located literally at the northernmost point of the island of Santorini. The distance between Fira and Baxedes is about 14 kilometres and the bus journey takes an average of 25-30 minutes to get there. It is a very convenient route to get to Baxedes beach early in the morning, stay there until lunchtime and return to Fira in the afternoon.
The rides are operated by KTEL company, which operates all the bus services in Santorini.
Bus route from Fira to Baxedes
All Santorini bus routes start and end in the centre of the island at the main bus station, and the route to Baxedes is one of the longest on the island.
The bus from Fira to Baxedes passes the villages of Imerovigli, Finikia and Oia on the way, and you can get off at any of these stops if you need to. In other words, Baxedes is the last stop on this route.
Strictly speaking, there is also a special bus service line to Oia, but if you have the spirit of a true explorer, you can use this line as well. There you can enjoy unforgettable views of the whitewashed town, the caldera and all its sights, and from Imerovigli you can walk to the Skaros viewpoint. It takes approximately 25-30 minutes by bus from the capital to Baxedes. Please note that the journey time can increase significantly during the high season, when traffic jams are not uncommon on our island’s roads.
The last bus from Fira to Baxedes departs at 14:00. There are no bus services on this route in the afternoon or at night.

The return bus from Baxedes goes to the main bus station in Fira. The morning buses start at 7:20:

The bus ride from Baxedes to Fira usually takes around 25-30 minutes as well.
There are no afternoon or night buses from Baxedes to Fira: during the summer, the bus service between the cities ends with the departure of the last bus at 14:25.
Bus ticket prices and how to buy tickets from Fira to Baxedes in 2024
You can buy a bus ticket from the driver or conductor. The bus fare from Fira to Baxedes in 2024 is 1.7 euro. If you get off on the way at the Oia stop, the fare will be ten cents less – 1.60 euros.
There is no extra charge and no special luggage tickets are required. Children up to the age of six do not need a bus ticket from Fira to Baxedes – we let them travel free and the price of a bus ticket for children aged seven to twelve inclusive is half the full price of a bus ticket on this route.
Five important things about the bus timetable from Fira to Baxedes
We want to share five basic facts you should know about bus routes between Fira and Baxedes village and on our island in general:
- The central bus stop in Santorini is located in Fira, the heart of the island and its capital. It is the main bus station.
- All buses in Santorini take their routes from there and return there as well.
- You can get from almost any other part of the island and back on regular buses, but you almost always have to go through the central bus station and make a connection there.
- Bus timetable s are different at weekends and also during the winter season (especially!). The gaps between buses can be an hour and a half or two hours instead of half an hour, and sometimes more. In general, the bus schedule on the island is quite… unstable and conditional. Sometimes it can change twice a week. Sad, but true.
- You can buy bus tickets in the bus for cash (euros). It is better to prepare in advance coins or small banknotes of 5 or 10 euros.
